Trailer carriage 1660
The trailer carriage 601 was built at the CGTA workshop in 1922 as a prototype. It was the model for a series of sixty trailer carriages (602-661). Between February 1952 and October 1954, 30 trailer carriages were converted into one-way coaches with a receiver seat and sliding doors along the right-hand side. The inside track side was completely closed. Boarding was at the front, alighting along the middle sliding door. The rear folding doors served as emergency exits.
During 1955-1958, a further 31 trailer coaches were converted into two-way coaches, with seats in simililer. The carriage body was widened by 18 centimetres, leaving more space for the centre aisle. The receiver seat was movable, depending on the direction of travel. The 1660 is representative of that rebuilt series. It was taken out of service in July 1973.
In 1963, all trailer carriages got the number 1 in front of their series number (1601-1661). From 1966, the trailer coaches went to the scrap yard.
