Motorcar 200

The 200 was the first electric tram delivered to the Compagnie Générale des Tramways d'Anvers (CGTA). It was presented to the sinjors on 21 January 1901 at the Dragon Square as the city tram to replace the horse tram. After forty years of passenger service, the 200 moved to the road and works service in 1941. The tram was partially converted into a track planer tractor and painted in brown, the colour of the works fleet. In February 1974, the 200 (then 8824) was taken to Brussels to be preserved for museum purposes. The Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company (STIB) restored the tram to its original condition in 1982.
